Vadrózsa Hungarian Folk Dancers of Calgary

Vadrózsa Hungarian Folk Dancers of Calgary | Host

Calgary

The Vadrózsa Hungarian Folk Dancers of Calgary was established in 1974 and has been an active member of the community since. We had a very fun and nostalgic celebration for our 50th anniversary this past November with lots of dance and live music. 2025 has been a busy year with performances at the annual Magyar Gála Bál, Stampede, Canada Day and running the Hungarian Pavilion through the Global Fest 10 day International firework competition. We are very excited to be hosting the 2026 Western Canadian Folk Dancers Festival next year and we can’t wait to see all our friends in Winnipeg this year.

For Vadrózsa, our Hungarian community is family because we have all been part of it, in various ways, throughout our whole lives and continue to welcome new members with open arms. Many of us have danced in the groups and participated in festival since we were children. Many of us are also part of other Hungarian organizations throughout the community; such as the Magyar Gala, Cserkész, and Church groups. Everyone in this community is family. We always greet each other with a warm embrace, and even if it's been months, or years, since we last saw each other, it feels as though no time has passed.
